The Ancestry of Christiane Rasmussen

The three generations of ancestors I have unearthed for Christiane Rasmussen are shown in the pedigree chart below. Her father died in Torslunde, which was the home of her and Hans Christensen before they left for America in 1872. The photo above is of the Torslunde Church - which I took during a 1997 visit. Christiane’s father was born in Kronge, and others of her ancestors were born in Torslunde as well.

Rasmus Olsen was Christiane’s father. He had two wives, his first being Dorthe Christiane Pedersdatter (Christiane's mother), and his second wife was Birthe Hansdatter. Between them he had eleven children. WIth his first wife Dorthe, he had four known children, three of whom lived to adulthood, and one - Christiane - who immigrated to America. With his second wife, he had seven children, two of whom died young. Of the remaining five, one remained in Denmark and died at age thirty, and the other four all immigrated to America.

Rasmus Olsen, was born in Kronge on November 8, 1791 in Kronge, and died on August 12, 1861 in Torslunde.  He married first He had two wives, and fathered eleven known children between them – three of which did not live to adulthood.  The first wife was Dorthe Christiane Pedersdatter (Christiane's mother), and his second was Birthe Hansdatter (with Fred, Peder, Ole and Ane Dorthe – all who immigrated to America and left many descendants, shown above).
